"We have never had such an anti-record. Even in the most difficult times, in April, when the situation was severe, we never had 689 people who fell ill in one day," Stepanov said during a daily briefing.

As of Thursday, the country has recorded a total of 29,070 COVID-19 cases, including 854 deaths and 13,141 recoveries.

On May 20, the Ukrainian government introduced adaptive quarantine starting from May 22 till June 22.
