Ukraine to reclose borders due to COVID-19 pandemic

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has decided to reclose the country's borders to foreign citizens until Sept. 28 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the press service of Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers reported on Wednesday.

The ban on foreigners entering the country will come into effect at midnight on Aug. 29.

According to Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the ban will not apply to foreigners who have a residence permit, and who are members of international and humanitarian missions, drivers of freight vehicles or instructors of NATO member states.

A total of 110,085 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 2,354 deaths, have been registered in Ukraine as of Wednesday, while 53,454 patients have recovered.
