United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sent his warm New Year wishes to the Chinese people in Chinese on Monday, a day before the Spring Festival.

In his message, Guterres extended his gratitude to China and Chinese people for their commitment to the UN and called on joint efforts to build a peaceful and prosperous world.

Despite the difficulties and challenges facing the world, people can get things done by working together, he said.
