WASHINGTON, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. columnist has recently warned against "a full-throated decoupling" of U.S. and Chinese economies, which make up more than 40 percent of the world's total wealth.

A full-scale decoupling "would cement the international community into rigid blocs and result in biting turbulence in global financial markets," Daniel DePetris, a foreign affairs columnist for American weekly news magazine Newsweek.

DePetris stressed there is no such thing as "a one-size-fits-all policy toward China."

"The U.S. must develop a policy that accounts for all of these different scenarios, no matter how one-dimensional the China debate is at home," he added.
