New York (People’s Daily) -- A third patient has tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the United States, a traveler from the epidemic epicenter Wuhan visiting Orange Country in California.

Orange County health officials announced Sunday the person has been in contact with them and was provided guidance to reduce exposure to the public while awaiting laboratory confirmation from the Centers for Disease Control, which came Saturday night.

The individual has now been transported to a local hospital and is in isolation in good condition.

Officials are following up directly with everyone who had close contact with this individual and will be monitoring them to assure that proper evaluation and care is provided if they become ill. The CDC’s guidance indicates that people who have casual contact with an infected person are at minimal risk of developing catching the virus.

At this time, there is no evidence that person-to-person transmission has occurred in Orange County. The current risk of local transmission remains low.
