WASHINGTON, May 6 (Xinhua) -- The Democrat-led House Judiciary Committee Monday scheduled a markup of a contempt citation for Attorney General William Barr over his refusal to provide a full version of the Mueller report.

The markup is scheduled for Wednesday after Barr failed to provide the full report to Congress before 9 a.m. local time (1300 GMT) on Monday, a deadline previously set by House Democrats.

"Although the committee has attempted to engage in accommodations with Attorney General Barr for several months, it can no longer afford to delay, and must resort to contempt proceedings," Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler said in a release. "The committee urgently requires access to the full, unredacted Mueller Report and to the investigatory and evidentiary materials cited in the Report."

The threat to hold Barr in contempt is the latest escalation in the battle between the Trump administration and the House of Representatives over the Mueller report.

Robert Mueller, special counsel in charge of the Russian probe, submitted the report to Barr in late March. Barr subsequently released a four-page summary and a redacted version of the full report.
