WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- US Treasury announced on Thursday that it has slapped sanctions on the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and its head amid tension.
It has also been reported that Washington on Thursday will renew waivers on Iran nuclear work for another 60 days, allowing foreign companies to continue work at Iranian nuclear sites to make it more difficult for Tehran to develop a nuclear weapon.
The already strained US-Iran tensions have escalated sharply since Qassem Soleimani, former commander the Quds Force of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), was killed near Baghdad International Airport by US drone strikes in early January.
