Washington (People's Daily) -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced Monday there are 11 confirmed novel coronavirus cases in the US, including two person-to-person transmissions.

California is home to over half of the confirmed cases as health officials announced two more cases in San Benito County on Sunday, bringing the state total to six.

The San Benito cases involve a married couple, both 57 years of age, according to a statement from county health service officials. The husband had recently arrived from Wuhan and transmitted the virus to his wife. The transmission marks the  the second confirmed case of person-to-person spread in the US. The first one involved a married couple in Chicago, Illinois.

Five US states have confirmed coronavirus cases, including one in Washington and Arizona, two in Illinois, and one in Massachusetts. Health officials said they expect more person-to-person transmissions.

CDC officials said 167 people have been tested for the virus and showed negative results with another 82 cases pending.

The disease agency also confirmed the US will route inbound flights from China to four additional airports including Washington’s Dulles, New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, and Detroit’s Metropolitan Airport.

The US announced last week that seven airports would receive commercial airline flights from China, including New York’s John F. Kennedy, Chicago’s O’Hare, San Francisco International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, Seattle’s Tacoma, Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson, and Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye.
