US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will pay a visit to China on Thursday at the invitation of Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang announced on Wednesday.

The bilateral relations between China and the US will be discussed, and some views will be exchanged about important international and regional issues that both sides care about, Geng said.

This visit comes after the historic summit between US President Donald Trump and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un on Tuesday.
