Republicans have hired a sex crimes prosecutor named Rachel Mitchell to handle their questioning.

The Republican prosecutor has been drilling down on the details, trying to find holes in Blasey Ford's account, quizzing her on everything from her fear of flying to her lie detector test.

Democrats have been taking a much broader approach, talking about sexual trauma in general, praising Blasey Ford for coming forward with her account.

They're aware that this is an extraordinary moment with a nation watching, many women seeing it as a reflection of their own experiences.

A woman who has accused US Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her in 1982 testified at a high-stakes Senate hearing on Thursday that could determine whether he is confirmed or rejected for the nation’s top court.
