All visitors entering Vietnam from South Korea are required to fill out a health declaration since Feb. 23 and all Vietnamese citizens returning to the country from South Korea will be placed under quarantine for 14 days.

South Korea reported 231 more cases of COVID-19 on Monday, raising the total number of infections to 833, and it has raised its virus alert to the highest level as the confirmed cases soared in the past week.

Of the total patients, 681 were residents in Daegu, about 300 km southeast of the capital Seoul, and its surrounding North Gyeongsang province.

Four Vietnamese carriers including Vietnam Airlines, Bamboo Airways, VietJet Air and Jetstar Pacific which have so far operated 14 flight routes between Vietnam and South Korea will reduce about 60 percent of flights between the two countries, the news agency cited the Ministry of Transport as reporting.

The Consular Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea earlier recommended Vietnamese citizens avoid traveling to areas affected by the COVID-19 and places vulnerable to the epidemic given the complex development of the outbreak in South Korea, the news agency reported.

Vietnam has so far recorded 16 cases of the coronavirus, among whom 15 have been cured and discharged from hospital.
