On February 11, 2018, ahead of the Spring Festival, President Xi Jinping visited the village deep in the Daliang Mountains, where he met with Yi ethnic villagers, learned about the challenges in poverty alleviation and offered effective solutions.
A year later, villagers began relocating to a new site just two kilometers away. Since then, Sanhe village has taken on an entirely new look.
Mud houses have been replaced by small villas, cement roads now reach every doorstep, residents have access to safe drinking water and full mobile network coverage has been achieved.
