This honor not only recognizes the development of cultural tourism of Xi'an, but also expands its international influence.

According to the list, the top 20 tourist destinations in 2020 are: 1. Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA; 2. Bilbao, Spain; 3. Buriram, Thailand; 4. Sunbury, Victoria, Australia; 5. Romania; 6. Xi'an, China; 7. Eugene, Oregon, USA; 8. Luxembourg; 9. Guadalajara, Mexico; 10. Vanuatu; 11. Cali, Colombia; 12. Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA; 13. Aberdeen, Scotland; 14. In the international market, Xi'an has played the role of tourism promotion center. Officials of the Tourism Bureau have gone to Japan and South Korea three times for tourism promotional meetings, and successfully held the opening ceremony of the 2019 "East Asian Cultural Capital" in Xi'an.
