The global death toll from COVID-19 increased by 786 to 7,807 in the past 24 hours as of 00:00 CET on Wednesday, according to the daily situation report released by the World Health Organization (WHO). 

The report showed a total of 191,127 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported as of Wednesday, an increase of 15,123 infections compared to the previous day.

The total confirmed cases reached 35,713 in Italy on Wednesday. 

Iran reports 1,192 new coronavirus cases and 147 new deaths, bringing the total number of infections and deaths to 17,361 and 1,135 respectively, Iran's health ministry spokesperson said Wednesday. 

On Wednesday, Spain's total confirmed cases has climbed to 14,769, with 2,943 new cases and 105 new fatalities. 

Germany's confirmed cases of COVID-19 totaled 12,327 as of Wednesday. 

The United States so far has 9,249 cases and 145 deaths, according to a Johns Hopkins University tracker.

There is now a total of 9,134 diagnosed cases in France, of which 931 were severe, 264 were fatal and 1,000 were cured, the French ministry of solidarity and health announced that as of Wednesday.

South Korea reported 152 more cases of the COVID-19 compared to 24 hours ago as of midnight Wednesday local time, raising the total number of infections to 8,565. 

There have been 3,028 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Switzerland as of Wednesday, according to a Johns Hopkins University tracker.

The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Britain reached 2,626 as of Wednesday morning, according to the latest figure from the Department of Health and Social Care.

The Netherlands has itself recorded 58 deaths and 2,051 cases in total, according to AFP.
