More than 4,700 people are dying every 24 hours from COVID-19-linked illnesses, according to Reuters calculations based on an average from June 1 to 27. That means 196 people die every hour, or one every 18 seconds. In the time it takes to watch a 90-minute soccer game, an average of 293 people die.

As of 4:33 p.m. on June 29, the cumulative number of deaths from new coronary pneumonia worldwide had risen to 500,108, and confirmed cases to 100,633,316. The data shows that the United States has the highest numbers.
